Foreword:

The Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) is a sector that is demonstrating a significant impact on the European territory from multiple perspectives and is therefore supported by national plans and European Commission programs such as Creative Europe.

This sector is also considered strategic in some Italian regions, and it is in this panorama that the "Trentino HUB of Cultural and Creative Industries" project fits, which has the ambition of designing in Trentino, with national influence, a body that deals with the governance of CCI as a sector and as a vector for sustainable, inclusive, innovative development based on culture as a cross-cutting resource. This paper therefore reports on the work done by the Design Research Lab team in designing an operational model concept for the Trentino HUB of CCI.

Subdivision of the document:

This document is divided into two parts:

  • Part A introduces the concept of the HUB in terms of the development project by focusing on key points in order to describe the background into which the work done in the next part fits.
  • Part B of the report brings together the work done in designing the model concept from the exploratory phase geared toward data collection and basic research, as well as stakeholder analysis.

Content:

This part also describes the design concepts of operational models and presents an infographic that visualizes the interactions resulting from the relationship between overall project goals and operational possibilities of the HUB.

This paper also reports a proposed operational policy guidelines and a proposed reading of the thematic areas (creative clusters) to which, for both, the operation of the HUB refers.

To conclude, a paragraph has been devoted to descriptions of future developments that include a reasoned and detailed list of actions needed to continue, improve and, most importantly, apply what has been conceptualized in this report.

This is a series of recommendations that highlight what needs, resources, skills, actions, and thoughts need to be paid attention to so that what is written in this report is used effectively.
